Celebrating World Book Day with Our Verplas Library
To mark World Book Day this year, our team came together to support a fantastic cause while celebrating the joy of reading.
The idea started with one of our colleagues, who suggested that we create a simple book swap initiative within the business. Team members were encouraged to bring in books they had already read and enjoyed, donating them to help build our brand new Verplas Library ahead of World Book Day.
The concept was simple: once the books were donated, anyone in the team could browse the shelves and take home a book in exchange for a donation of their choice. Every contribution made went directly to Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, helping to support the incredible work they do for seriously ill children and their families.
The response from the team was fantastic. Our bookshelves filled up quickly with a wide variety of titles, from thrillers and autobiographies to business books and classic novels. It didn’t take long for the library to become a real talking point around the office, with colleagues sharing recommendations, discovering new authors, and reconnecting with their love of reading.
What began as a simple idea quickly turned into a meaningful way for the team to come together, share something they enjoy, and raise money for an important local charity. Initiatives like this are a great reminder that small ideas can make a big difference when people get involved.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated books and made a contribution. We’re proud to support Julia’s House Children’s Hospice and look forward to seeing the Verplas Library continue to grow as more books are shared and enjoyed across the team.
Happy World Book Day from everyone at Verplas! 📚
